Tendon research is by its nature multidisciplinary, typified by unique collaborations between clinicians, engineers, and biologists. This conference goal is to bring thought leaders and community members from across disciplines to inspire important discussions in tendon investigation needs and establish guidelines and consensus in the field. This overarching goal is to identify areas of unmet need, improve rigor and reproducibility of research, to share these findings to improve human health. The primary topic areas for the conference are 1) clinical unmet needs and clinical research to guide future clinical and basic/translation research, 2) assessments of pain as a diagnostic, understanding the mechanistic basis of pain systemically and locally and targeting pain with preventatives and therapeutic strategies, and 3) develop consensus and guidelines on multiomics in tendon research, and 4) current research and including and beyond the identified priority areas.
