| On behalf of the International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS) and the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to announce the IX International Symposium on Almonds and Pistachios, which will be held in Lleida (Catalonia), Spain, from 3 - 7 May, 2026. Lleida is located to the Ebro Valley, in northeastern Spain, where significant almond and pistachio plantations and industry are located.
The symposium will be convened by Dr Xavier Miarnau and Dr Joaquim Bellvert from IRTA (Research Institute of Food and Agriculture) and will be organized under the auspices of the ISHS Division of Temperate Tree Nuts, with the support of the ISHS Working Group on Almond and Pistachio. The symposium will feature scientific sessions (oral and poster presentations) covering key aspects of the almond and pistachio industry, complemented by workshop meetings, technical tours, conference dinner, and social activities. The main topics of the scientific sessions will include: Breeding and material selection Productive models and agronomic management of plantations Pest and disease management Water and nutrients requirements Biotic and abiotic stress Quality and industrial aptitude New strategies and technologies to address climate change We warmly welcome academics, researchers, farmers, private companies, and governmental organizations from around the world to join us for this important event, fostering collaboration and innovation in the field of almond and pistachio cultivation.
